Privacy & your location
Last updated 2026-10-03. This is an independent store-finder, not an official ALP product.
Short version
- We only keep your location if you press “Allow” on the prompt “Share my location with ALP Locator to improve store coverage”. “No thanks” sends nothing to our server, and navigation works the same.
- What we keep is rounded to roughly 100 m and has no name, e-mail, account or IP address.
- You can switch sharing off in the footer (“Do not share my location”) or delete what you shared, below.
What we collect (only after you tap Allow)
- Time of the event and whether it was a lookup or you started navigation (no continuous tracking: we never log the route you drive).
- Your latitude/longitude rounded to 3 decimals (about 100 m), and the GPS accuracy in metres. If you searched by zip code or address, the coordinates of that place.
- The ID of the nearest or chosen store, and the estimated drive time and distance to it.
- Your browser family and OS (for example “Chrome/Android”) – derived from the User-Agent header; the raw header is not stored.
- The website you came from (host name only, if your browser sends it).
- A random session ID created in your browser (not tied to you; it resets when you close the tab).
We do not store your IP address in the location log. The server keeps IP-derived values only in memory, in hashed form, for a few minutes to rate-limit abuse; they are never written to disk.
Why
To see where people look for ALP stores but find none nearby, so coverage gaps and bad store data can be found and fixed. It is not used for advertising and is never sold or shared.
How long
Entries are deleted automatically after 90 days. Access is limited to a private admin page protected by a secret token.
Your choices
- Opt out any time: use Do not share my location in the footer, or the button below. The choice is stored only on your device (localStorage key
alp.consent). - Delete: the button below removes every entry made from this browser. Because entries only carry a random session ID, we cannot find your data by name or IP – if you cleared your browser storage, you can’t identify it any more and it will simply expire after 90 days.
- You can also deny location permission in your browser; you can still search by zip code or address.
Other services that see your position
To work at all, the app contacts third parties directly from your browser, regardless of the choice above: the Stockist store feed behind alppouch.com (your coordinates, to list nearby stores), the OSRM routing servers (start and end points, to draw the route and rank by drive time), OpenStreetMap / Esri map-tile servers (tile areas you view), and – only if you search – zippopotam.us or OpenStreetMap Nominatim (the text you type). Our hosting provider and CDN (Cloudflare) process IP addresses to deliver the site; that is outside the location log. Each has its own policy.
